The space
The space is located on Derigny Street near Victoria Square, a location of key political importance for Athens, with a strong multicultural character. It is our choice to be housed in an apartment building instead of a gallery space with a window display; we would like to keep a low profile in the neighbourhood, while at the same time creating a safe space for collectivity and getting together. We aspire to the creation of a community.

ΛΑΛΑ is first and foremost a queer house, a meeting point for the people who are in the organisational team and for invited guests of the project. With a fully equipped kitchen, ready to treat guests and loved ones, the apartment preserves its homey/family quality.

ΛΑΛΑ’s friends are from all over the world! In the space there is a room adapted for residencies of artists and activists whose work we are interested in. As of April 2022, we have had 7 people staying with us. At the same time, in our events we host guests from abroad to present their work, trying to be in contact with the international queer art scene.

Perverts Cine Club hosts monthly screenings of experimental, subversive queer underground films and video art, both from the vast history of of the experimental and underground cinema, as well as contemporary 21st century artists. All screenings will be free of charge / donation-based.
The Colassis Foundation

Starting from its anti-institutional name, the Colassis Foundation aims to present silenced narratives and works that are not showcased or are represented in a tokenistic way in the city's mainstream art institutions. The work of marginalised artists, immigrants, trans and queer subjectivities is regularly hosted.

LALA is also a place of work, with a focus on the body and the reconstruction of identity. Among these, the Nail Salon of Mrs. Teti is permanently housed in the space and gives you the opportunity to do the most fabulous nails. Other workshops that happened in the space were the electronic queer poetry workshop by AIMark and the dadaist collage workshop by Alex Tsoli. The Filth Stuidio invites LALA members to suggest their own ideas for workshops.

ΛΑΛΑ is a museum in progress that aims to create an archive of works and the history of artists of the Athenian underground scene and the international queer community.
One of our aims is the archiving of athenian queer history and we are doing a series of oral history discussions with LGBTQ figures. We have also started a mini-library of theory and art books, magazines, DIY zines, etc.
