As part of the two-day Festival of Art and Remembrance “Our Strength Is the Community,” marking the anniversary of the founding of AKOE (Greek Gay Liberation Movement) on April 25, 1977, we will screen the documentary AKOE/AMFI: The Story of a Revolution (*Just to sleep on their chest…) by Iossif Vardakis. The film traces the birth and early steps of the LGBTQI movement in Greece and gives the generation that fought for and built this movement the opportunity to share with the next generation—and those who will follow—an unknown, exciting moment among those that change the world. The screening will be followed by a discussion with the film’s director.
