LALA and Dreamland present some of the early works by Cheryl Dunye for the first time in Athens, with the presence of the filmmaker herself!!!

Cheryl Dunye is a Liberian-American filmmaker, producer, writer and actress and her films grapple on topics of gender identity, race and sexuality, especially giving visibility to the black lesbian and trans identity.

Her first feature film The Watermelon Woman won the Teddy Award at the Berlinale in 1996 and her next films, among them Stranger Inside (2001), The Owls (2010) and Mommy is Coming (2012) premiered in film festivals like Sundance and Berlinale and have won numerous awards. You might also know her from her most recent work on Television, directing episodes for series such as Dear White People and Bridgerton.

followed by a Q&A with the filmmaker Cheryl Dunye.

The films will be shown in English without subtitles.

Doors will open at 20:30 and the screening will start at 21:00.
The doorbell will be turned off when the screening begins.

ΛΑΛΑ is a DIY self-organised project in the heart of Athens, aiming to create a space to meet but also a space for creativity, research and archives of queer and underground arts of the city.

Entrance is free and there is a donation box at the space.
